Carrington Farms’ Perfect Pumpkin Bread


  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup Carrington Farms Coconut Oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 cups canned pumpkin


Sift dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together pumpkin, water, oil and eggs.

Pour liquids mixture into dry ingredients and mix together well.

Spray 2 loaf pans with non-stick spray. Pour finished mixture into loaf pans.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about an hour and 15 minutes.

Pumpkin bread is done when top is brown and an inserted toothpick comes out dry.





Filippo Berio Olive Oil Invests in National Advertising Campaign

As the $1 billion olive oil retail category continues to experience a period of high growth, Filippo Berio Olive Oil, the leading U.S. brand, is capitalizing on the industry’s expansion by asserting itself as the category leader with a new $7-9MM national advertising campaign. Greater recognition of the health benefits of olive oil and the awareness of the Mediterranean diet, of which olive oil is a staple, are just some of the factors contributing to the increase in domestic olive oil consumption. This has led the United States to surpass Greece in the rankings of olive oil consumption – only falling behind Italy and Spain. Filippo Berio’s national campaign, launching the first week in October, is the largest consumer marketing investment in the company’s 150-year history.

The national TV campaign invites consumers to travel back in time to the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside in 1867 to meet a young Filippo Berio honing his craft to produce an olive oil he thought worthy of sharing with the cooks of his community. After Filippo successfully impresses his neighbors at the town piazza with a culinary creation that showcases his olive oil, the commercial transitions to a modern day kitchen, where a contemporary woman uses Filippo Berio Olive Oil as she prepares a family meal.  The commercials will air on a variety of major cable channels including Bravo, Food Network and CNN, giving Filippo Berio 100 percent share of voice ownership on television for the category.

The print campaign features vintage photos of Filippo Berio hard at work, along with the tagline and a new bottle label design the company is rolling out as part of the national campaign. Filippo’s picture, a new addition to the bottle, is prominently featured alongside his handwritten signature, which has been an essential part of every bottle of Filippo Berio Olive Oil since 1867. The research showed that adding the founder’s image to the bottles, along with his signature, helped lend credence to the story of the man behind the name as well as trustworthiness regarding the quality of the product. Lombardi’s Italian Food Line Ready for Launch

Actor Louis Lombardi’s brand-new line of pastas, olives, olive oils and pasta sauces will make its bow to the public with the launch of a website at LOMBARDIUSA.COM on Wednesday. That’s right, this Wednesday, September 25.

Mr. Lombardi was kind enough to sit down with Gourmet News for the whole story of how he came to create a line of foods that he hopes will bring more families back to the dinner table at home instead of around the table at a neighborhood fast food joint. No matter how exhausted you are on this last day of the Summer Fancy Food show, make the time, find the will, to race down to Javits North for the chance to wrap your lips around some of the most sublime tastes on the planet while also basking in the glow of newly-minted sofi Gold Awards. It’ll make you forget that your feet hurt and your back is sore.

picture057Start at booth #5126, where Ian Johnson of Los Chileros and Marietta De Angelo of Culinary Imports are shining in the reflected glow of the sofi Award for this year’s Best Oil. They took the stage last night with a click of the heels, a quick jig and hugs all around in a performance that Specialty Food Association Vice President of Communications and Education Ron Tanner, the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, proclaimed, “Best Entrance.”

De Angelo and her husband Alan are in the booth this morning sampling the prize-winning Cherry Seed Oil along with the Pumpkin Seed Oil, Chile Seed Oil and Tomato Seed Oil that comprise the rest of the line. Chocolat Moderne is getting used to being on the sofi award stage after winning two consecutive gold awards. This year’s winner was the Avant-Garde Bar in Blood Orange Bergamot flavor, while the Lime Moderne Bar won the gold award last year. The Blood Orange Bergamot offers up its floral notes first, followed by the exhilarating citrus burst of the blood orange and finishing with the aphrodisiacal chocolate notes. The Lime Moderne Bar, on the other hand, offers up its chocolate flavor first and finishes with sweet lime notes.

In 868 Eastland Food Corporation, based in Maryland, is talking about rice bran oil as a healthy choice. Rice Bran Oil is high in oryzanol and Vitamin E, natural antioxidants, and has a high smoke point, so it can be used for frying as well as in baking and in salad dressings. It’s made from non-GMO rice bran.
Melt organic is offering spreads that take the place of butter. They’re made with virgin coconut oil and can be used for sautéing, baking and spreading, like butter but with half the saturated fat and calories. Robert Rothschild Farms Acquires Napa Valley Producer’s Brands

Robert Rothschild Farm has acquired the sauce, dipping oil, marinade, condiments and rub business of Tulocay & Co., an award-winning premium food manufacturer located in Napa Valley, California.

Tulocay & Co. consists of a family of brands and products that allow everyone to enjoy meals created with flavorful and all-natural ingredients. The brands include “Made In Napa Valley,” “Vineyard Pantry,” and various other products.
