Alexandre Mérieux has been named Chairman of the Board at Mérieux NutriSciences, which he presided over for the first time today. His nomination was approved during the last board meeting, held on June 12th. He replaces Dr. Russ Flowers, one of the founders of the company, who is retiring.
This nomination reaffirms the strategic engagement of Institut Mérieux, majority shareholder of Mérieux NutriSciences, in food safety and nutrition.
In becoming Chairman of the Board at Mérieux NutriSciences, of which he was an administrator since 2003, Alexandre Mérieux reinforces his engagement alongside Phillippe Sans, President and CEO, and his executive committee to accompany the group’s strong evolution.
Mérieux NutriSciences has implemented a dynamic international development strategy since 2007. Revenue has doubled, employees number is close to 5,000 people, working in more than 70 laboratories across the globe.
The group has performed 15 acquisitions, reinforcing a strong presence in North America and in Europe while establishing a solid position in emerging countries such as China, India and Brazil.
“The stakes for public health from food safety and nutrition are recognized and have become priorities for a number of countries,” said Alexandre Mérieux. “Thanks to our expertise in biology, Mérieux NutriSciences has a particularly important role to play in preventing health risks, protecting and improving consumer health. It is an honor for me to replace Russ. Together with the board, where Russ will continue to serve, we offer our most utmost gratitude for the work that has been accomplished. With this new set of responsibilities, I reaffirm our ambitious objectives for the coming years,” he concluded.
